HRB dancers are committed to sharing the arts with the community. Community engagement events include costumed appearances at various nursing homes, group events, and at Arts & Education performances as well as our young dancer mentor program, the HRB Children’s Guild. These children will have the opportunity to participate as dancers in three HRB Nutcracker Arts & Education school performances, for an audience of their peers comprising more than 1,500 Tomball ISD 3 rd graders.

Up to 36 students will participate, free of charge (including class attire, costumes, and other supplies), in one-hour weekly ballet classes/rehearsals at Houston Repertoire Ballet/Ballet Center of Houston studios, and will receive dance instruction through the “Nutcracker Experience” program. Houston Repertoire Ballet has received a generous grant from Texas Commission on the Arts, enabling us to expand our outreach mission to children currently attending three Title-1 schools. Kristy Nilsson, the Resident Choreographer for Houston Repertoire Ballet, has adapted the nearly century-old ballet to create a delightful Jazz-Age Vacation, Filled with Fun, Sun and Romance Ms. The opera that announced the young Mozarts genius to the world returns to the Met stage, with Manfred Honeck making a notable company debut on the podium.
